Ingredients

400g spaghetti or fettuccine

6 cloves garlic, minced

100g unsalted butter

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and black pepper to taste

Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

Prepare the Garlic Butter: While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and olive oil. Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter. Toss to coat the pasta well. If the mixture seems dry, gradually add the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.

Flavor It Up: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, lemon zest, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until the cheese has melted and everything is well combined.

Serve: Transfer the pasta to serving plates. Top with additional Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of fresh parsley for garnish.
