1 lb ground beef (80/20)

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup green bell pepper, diced

1 cup crushed tomatoes

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons smoked paprika

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon cumin

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 hoagie rolls or sub buns

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, sauté the chopped onion and green bell pepper until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.

    Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

      Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well and allow to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

        While the beef mixture is simmering, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

          Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and fill them generously with the beef mixture. Top each sandwich with shredded cheddar cheese.

            Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

              Remove the sandwiches from the oven and let them cool for a minute. Chicken: Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
