Ingredients

4 cups water

2 tablespoons black tea leaves (or 4 black tea bags)

1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup honey (or to taste)

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Juice of 1 lemon

Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Ice cubes

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil.

Once boiling, add the black tea leaves (or tea bags) and let steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on your strength preference.

Remove the tea leaves or bags, then stir in the grated ginger and honey. Mix until the honey is fully dissolved.

Add the pitted and halved cherries to the warm tea mixture, followed by the red pepper flakes, and let it simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.

Remove from heat, strain the tea into a pitcher, discarding the solid ginger and cherry pieces.

Squeeze the juice of one lemon into the tea and stir well. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.

To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the chilled cherry ginger tea over the ice, and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
