Ingredients

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 cups chicken or vegetable broth

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large pot, melt the stick of butter over medium heat.

Once melted, add the rice to the pot, stirring to coat each grain in butter. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the rice is slightly toasted and fragrant.

Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine, ensuring the rice is submerged in the liquid.

Increase the heat and bring the broth to a boil. Once boiling, reduce to low heat, cover with a lid, and allow it to simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.

Remove the pot from heat and fluff the rice with a fork. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and fully incorporated for a creamy texture.

Allow the rice to sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes to let the cheese meld through.

Serve warm, garnished with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
