400g spaghetti

6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Salt to taste

Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Lemon wedges for garnish

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.

    Prepare the Garlic Oil: In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the olive oil and sliced garlic. Sauté until the garlic is lightly golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

      Add the Spice: Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook for an additional 30 seconds to release their flavor.

        Combine Pasta and Oil: Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta in the garlic oil. If the mixture seems dry, gradually add reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.

          Add Zesty Elements: Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice. Mix well to combine, allowing the bright flavors to infuse the dish.
