Ingredients

4 lbs pork shoulder, bone-in

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup chicken broth

½ cup pure maple syrup

¼ cup apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 medium onion, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Pork Shoulder: Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, black pepper, and salt. Rub this spice blend all over the pork, ensuring it’s well coated.

Slice the Onions and Garlic: In the bottom of a slow cooker, layer the sliced onion and add the minced garlic evenly on top.

Add the Pork: Place the seasoned pork shoulder on top of the onions and garlic in the slow cooker.

Mix the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce until thoroughly combined. Pour this mixture over the pork in the slow cooker, ensuring it gets into the nooks and crannies.

Cook: Cover the slow cooker and set it to low heat. Cook for 8-10 hours for the pork to become tender and easily shredded.

Shred and Serve: Once cooked, carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 10 minutes. Shred the pork using two forks.

Thicken the Sauce (Optional): If you prefer a thicker sauce, transfer the cooking liquid to a saucepan and simmer over medium heat until it reduces to your liking.

Combine and Garnish: Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, mixing it with some of the sauce. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

                  Prep Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 10 hours | Servings: 8

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve the smoky maple pork shoulder on a large platter, drizzled with the sauce and garnished with fresh parsley. Pair with creamy coleslaw or roasted vegetables for a complete meal. Enjoy!
