Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg, beaten

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water to create a slurry)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape them into oval patties.

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.

In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown, about 5 minutes.

Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Gently place the cooked patties back into the skillet, covering them with the broth and mushrooms. Allow them to cook for an additional 10 minutes.

Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the gravy, and allow it to cook for another few minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.

Serve the Salisbury steaks on a plate, spooning the mushroom gravy over the top.

Garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh touch.
