Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup buttermilk

1 large egg

¼ cup vegetable oil

1 tablespoon red food coloring

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Glaze:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: Red sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.

In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, vegetable oil, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Use a piping bag or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off to carefully fill each donut mold about ¾ full with the batter.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the donuts are cooling, prepare the cream cheese glaze by beating the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy and pourable.

Once the donuts are cool, dip the tops in the cream cheese glaze or drizzle it over the top. For a festive touch, sprinkle with red sprinkles.
