Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 pound ground turkey

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg, beaten

3 cups mashed potatoes (prepared with butter and milk)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, and the beaten egg. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Form the Meatloaf: Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan or a baking dish and shape it into a loaf. Make sure it’s compact and even to ensure even cooking.

Layer with Mashed Potatoes: Spread the prepared mashed potatoes over the top of the meatloaf evenly, smoothing it out with a spatula.

Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the mashed potatoes.

Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F/70°C) and the cheese is bubbly and lightly golden.

Cool and Slice: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. This will help the layers hold together when slicing.

Serve: Slice the casserole into portions, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.
