Ingredients

2 tablespoons dried butterfly pea flowers

2 cups hot water

1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)

2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (to taste)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Ice cubes

Lemon slices or edible flowers for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Begin by steeping the butterfly pea flowers in hot water. Place the dried flowers in a teapot or heatproof container and pour the hot water over them. Allow it to steep for about 10-15 minutes until the water turns a vibrant blue color.

Strain the tea into a pitcher to remove the butterfly pea flowers. Let the tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate it until chilled.

In another container, combine the milk, honey or agave syrup, and vanilla extract. Use a frother or whisk to blend until frothy.

Fill a glass halfway with ice cubes. Pour the chilled butterfly pea flower tea over the ice until the glass is about three-quarters full.

Gently pour the frothed milk over the tea. For a beautiful layered effect, slowly pour the milk over the back of a spoon to create distinct layers.

For an optional twist, you can add a splash of lemon juice to the tea before adding the milk, which will change the color to a beautiful violet and add a zesty flavor.

Garnish with lemon slices or edible flowers for a pop of color and elegance. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing iced butterfly pea flower tea latte!
