Ingredients

1 cup whole milk

½ cup heavy cream

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

2 large eggs

½ cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 cups ice cubes

Whipped cream (for topping)

Extra caramel sauce (for drizzling)

A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Prepare the Custard Base: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the milk and heavy cream. Stir until warmed but not boiling. Remove from heat.

Mix the Eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour the warm milk and cream mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously to prevent curdling.

Cook the Custard: Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon (about 5-7 minutes). Do not let it boil.

Add Caramel: Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in ½ cup of caramel sauce along with a pinch of sea salt. Mix until fully incorporated.

Cool Custard Mixture: Let the custard cool to room temperature. Once cooled, cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until chilled completely.

Blend the Frappe: In a blender, combine the chilled custard, ice cubes, and the remaining ½ cup caramel sauce. Blend on high until smooth and frothy.

Serve: Pour the caramel custard frappe into tall glasses. Top generously with whipped cream and drizzle extra caramel sauce over the top.

Garnish (Optional): For an extra touch, sprinkle a bit of sea salt on top of the whipped cream for contrast.
