Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

    In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.

      Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition to incorporate fully.

        In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

          Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
