Ingredients

12 oz ziti pasta

2 cups marinara sauce

2 cups ricotta cheese

1 egg

3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

2 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.

In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom.

Layer half of the cooked ziti on top of the sauce in the baking dish.

Spoon half of the ricotta mixture over the ziti, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese.

Repeat the layers with the remaining ziti, marinara, ricotta mixture, and top with the remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.

Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Let the baked ziti cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
