3mediumapples (your choice: Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith)
1tablespoonlemon juice
1teaspoonground cinnamon
1tablespoonbrown sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
1pinchsalt
Instructions
Begin by washing and drying the apples. Remove the core and thinly slice them using a mandoline or sharp knife. Aim for slices about 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick for optimal crispiness.
In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice until evenly coated. This will help prevent browning and add a zesty flavor.
In a small bowl, combine ground cinnamon, brown sugar (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix to combine.
Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over the apple slices and toss gently, ensuring each slice is coated evenly.
Preheat your air fryer to 300°F (150°C) for about 5 minutes.
Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they do not overlap too much. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Air fry the apple slices for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them towards the end to prevent burning, as cooking times may vary depending on the air fryer model.
Once done, the apple chips should be crispy and slightly golden. Remove them from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes to become even crispier.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week (if they last that long!).
Notes
Serve in a rustic bowl or on a wooden platter. Garnish with extra cinnamon or serve with Greek yogurt.
