Ingredients

2 cups fresh mushrooms (cremini or button), sliced

1 cup heavy cream

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat until melted.

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened and translucent.

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are browned and tender.

Sprinkle in the fresh thyme and add the Worcestershire sauce, mixing well to combine.

Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine the ingredients evenly. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5 minutes, letting it thicken slightly.

If using, incorporate the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and well-combined. This will enhance the creaminess of the sauce.

Season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting as necessary.

Remove the skillet from the heat and let the sauce cool slightly before serving.

                    Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 25 minutes | Servings: 4

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve the creamy mushroom sauce over a perfectly cooked steak, allowing the sauce to cascade down the sides. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and flavor. Enjoy with a side of roasted vegetables or garlic mashed potatoes!
