Ingredients

8 oz elbow macaroni

2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sour cream

2 cups milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon mustard powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for topping)

2 tablespoons parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until it forms a smooth paste (roux).

Gradually add the milk while whisking to prevent lumps. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the cream cheese, sour cream, mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and mix until smooth.

Stir in the sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese until fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce in a large bowl, mixing well to ensure every piece is coated.

Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top for added crunch.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley.
