Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped

1/4 cup cooked and shredded chicken (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

24 wonton wrappers

Vegetable oil, for frying

Sweet and sour sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, green onions, shredded chicken (if using), garlic powder, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.

Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean surface and place about one tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center.

Wet the edges of the wrapper with a bit of water using your fingers, then fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Press firmly to seal the edges, ensuring no air is trapped inside.

Optional: For a unique twist, crimp the edges with a fork to create a decorative pattern.

Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.

In a deep frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until hot (approximately 350°F or 175°C).

Carefully drop a few wontons at a time into the hot oil, frying them until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Use a slotted spoon to remove the wontons and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve the crispy cream cheese wontons hot with sweet and sour sauce on the side for dipping.
