Ingredients

1 sleeve of saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts work great)

Sea salt, to sprinkle on top

Optional: ½ cup crushed peppermint candies for a festive touch

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 10x15 inch baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray for easy removal later.

Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they are close together but not overlapping.

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the unsalted butter and brown sugar. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil. Allow it to boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring, until it thickens slightly.

Carefully pour the boiling mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly to cover all the crackers completely.

Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, until the mixture is bubbly and caramelized. Remove from the oven and let it sit for a minute.

Sprinkle the semisweet chocolate chips evenly over the hot caramel layer. Allow them to sit for 2-3 minutes until they soften, then use a spatula to spread the chocolate into a smooth layer.

Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the melted chocolate, pressing them in gently. If desired, sprinkle crushed peppermint candies for an extra festive crunch and flavor.

Finish with a sprinkle of sea salt on top for a delightful contrast to the sweetness.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until completely set. Once firm, lift the entire sheet from the baking pan using the foil, and break into pieces.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes | Servings: 20-25 pieces

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve the Christmas Crack pieces in festive holiday tins or on a large platter, garnished with a sprinkle of extra crushed peppermint for a cheerful look.
