In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel candies and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the caramel is fully melted and smooth.
In another microwave-safe bowl, place the chocolate chips. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat until the chocolate is completely melted and glossy.
Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, covering about two-thirds of the rod. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
While the chocolate is still wet, drizzle some melted caramel over the chocolate-coated area.
Sprinkle the crushed nuts and sprinkles on top of the caramel before it sets, ensuring they stick well. If using, lightly sprinkle sea salt over the rods for a sweet and salty flavor.
Place the coated pretzel rods on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Allow them to cool at room temperature or place them in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes to set.
Once set, the pretzel rods are ready to enjoy. Break them apart if needed and serve on a platter.
