Ingredients

1 package (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough

1 pound breakfast sausage (bulk, not in casings)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups milk (whole or 2%)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon baking powder

Fresh chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.

Brown the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess fat, if necessary.

Make the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir well to coat. Gradually add in the milk while mixing continuously. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Continue to cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Biscuits: While the gravy is thickening, cut each biscuit into quarters and place them in the greased casserole dish. Scatter them evenly across the bottom of the dish.

Add Cheese and Eggs: Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuit pieces ensuring even distribution. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. In a bowl, whisk together eggs and baking powder, then pour this mixture on top of the casserole.

Bake the Casserole: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the egg is cooked through.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving warm.
