Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 cup carrots, diced

1 cup peas (fresh or frozen)

1 cup potatoes, diced

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 ready-made pie crust (or homemade if preferred)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, sautéing until translucent (about 3-4 minutes).

Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Add the Vegetables: Stir in the diced carrots, peas, and potatoes. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.

Create the Sauce: Sprinkle the flour over the beef and vegetable mixture. Stir to coat and cook for 1 minute. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Assemble the Pie: Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface. Place it into a pie dish. Pour the cooled beef mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly. Cover with another layer of pie crust, and seal the edges by crimping them with a fork or your fingers. Cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.

Egg Wash: Brush the top crust with the beaten egg to give it a golden brown finish.

Bake: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
