Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup cooked beef, shredded or diced (use your favorite cut, such as brisket or flank steak)

1/4 cup chopped fresh chives (or green onions)

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, beef, and chopped chives, being careful not to overmix.

Pour in the buttermilk, stirring just until combined to form a thick batter.

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, pour half of the melted butter (1/4 cup) and spread it evenly across the bottom.

Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough into the baking dish, spacing them out evenly.

Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the top of the biscuit dough.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
