Ingredients

4 large croissants, preferably day-old

8 slices of deli ham

8 slices of Swiss cheese or Gruyère

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Carefully slice each croissant in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through, creating a pocket.

Spread 1/2 tablespoon of Dijon mustard on the inside of each croissant half.

Layer 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of cheese in each croissant, pressing down gently to secure the filling.

In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, black pepper, and dried thyme (if using).

Brush the butter mixture generously over the top of each filled croissant.

Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet, with the open side facing up.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly for a couple of minutes.

Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
