Ingredients

1 cup egg whites (about 8-10 eggs)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup cake flour, sifted

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Oil for frying

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Whip Egg Whites: In a large bowl, beat the egg whites using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until foamy. Gradually add 1 cup of sugar, beating until the mixture forms stiff peaks.

Combine Vanilla and Flour: Gently fold in the vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, sift the cake flour and salt together. Gradually fold the flour mixture into the egg whites, being careful not to deflate the volume of the egg whites.

Add Butter: Carefully fold in the melted butter until just combined, ensuring it does not disrupt the airy texture of the batter.

Pipe the Batter: Transfer the batter into a piping bag fitted with a large round tip. Pipe small strips (about 3 inches long) onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until they are lightly golden and spring back when touched. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.

Prepare Coating: In a shallow bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon.

Heat Oil: In a large saucepan, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).

Fry: Carefully drop in a few pieces of the cooled angel food cake bites into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels.

Coat in Cinnamon Sugar: While still hot, roll the fried bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve: Serve the angel food cake churro bites warm, and enjoy with a side of whipped cream or a chocolate dipping sauce if desired!

                        Prep Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 4-6

                          - Presentation Tips: Serve churro bites in a decorative bowl or on a platter, sprinkled with extra cinnamon sugar on top, and include a small bowl of dipping sauce for added indulgence!
