Ingredients

4 hot dog sausages (your choice: beef, pork, turkey, or plant-based)

4 hot dog buns

1 cup chili (homemade or canned, preferably spicy)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup diced red onion

1/4 cup diced jalapeños (fresh or pickled)

1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon ground cumin

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chili: If using canned chili, warm it in a small saucepan over medium heat. If making homemade chili, sauté onions and garlic in olive oil, then add ground meat and cook until browned. Stir in beans, tomatoes, and spices (smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper) and let simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Cook the Hot Dogs: While the chili simmers, grill or pan-fry the hot dog sausages over medium heat until they are browned and heated through, about 5-7 minutes. If desired, you can also steam the buns by placing them in a steamer basket over boiling water for a few minutes.

Assemble the Dogs: Place each hot dog in its bun. Generously ladle over the warm chili to cover the sausage completely.

Add Toppings: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the chili, followed by diced red onions and jalapeños. Top each chili dog with a dollop of sour cream or Greek yogurt.

Garnish and Serve: For added flavor, garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve immediately while the chili dogs are warm and gooey.

            Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 40 minutes | Servings: 4

              - Presentation Tips: Serve the chili dogs on a rustic wooden board or a white plate for contrast. Add a small bowl of extra chili and toppings on the side for guests to customize their dogs. Consider using colorful napkins and plates for a festive look!
